An action plan is being formulated to transform the agency area blessed with hills and beautiful gorges as a tourist destination, said East Godavari district Collector Karthikeya Misha.

He, along with ITDA Project Officer A.S. Dinesh Kumar and other officials, visited the horticulture centre and the training centre at Maredumilli on Tuesday.

The Collector said that the resorts at Rampachodavaram and Maredumilli would be renovated and beautified shortly. Proposals had been sent to construct 20 cottages, he said.

Employment

Every step that was going to attract tourists would benefit the tribal people in the area. People from not only the district, but also from far away places were visiting the area, he observed.

The tourism department had been asked to send proposals to the government to provide basic amenities in the tourist spots, he said and assured the local tribal youth of providing employment to them in the process of undertaking development works in Maredumilli and Rampachodavaram.
