BADAUN (UP): A 24-year-old woman was allegedly killed over dowry in Samarra Bhojpur village here, police said today.
Sunita was allegedly hanged to death yesterday by her in-laws and later her body was cremated in the jungle in the night, the brother of the deceased has complained to the police.
An FIR has been registered against five persons including the deceased's husband Kallu.
SP Rural S P Singh said that the victim's brother Om Prakash rushed to the village after being tipped-off by the villagers.
Alleging that the family had been harassing his sister for dowry ever since her marriage six years ago, the brother has complained that yesterday the in-laws pressurised her for bringing more cash and later hanged her to death, the SP said The remains of the woman have been sent for medical examination, he added.
