On the occasion of National Aboriginal Day (and the other 364 days of the year), here are a few things to think about.

The 1.4 million indigenous people who live in Canada have their own languages, cultures and traditions that have sustained them.

As they look to the future, many are trying to strike a balance between preserving their identity and thriving in a country that isn’t always so welcoming.

We visited the Kahnawake territory where Mohawk journalist Steve Bonspiel spoke to us about the history and future of aboriginal people in this country.
