June is set to be the first month of cash neutrality

Alexium International Group (ASX:AJX) is currently closing out what is tracking to be its first month of cash neutrality with increased sales leading to record monthly product shipments.

Shipments of Alexium’s Alexicool™ fire retardant chemistry for June are on track to exceed 90,000 kilograms representing an eight-fold increase over January’s monthly shipments.

Sales into the mattress industry continue to trend sharply upward with Alexicool™ June orders to date already exceeding May set to result in Alexium’s 8th consecutive month of record sales.

In addition, later this month Alexium will make its first shipment of Alexicool™ to the single largest producer of mattress fabrics in the world.

These continued gains in the mattress industry are creating a firm foundation for sustainable growth and a profitable first half of FY2018.

Background

Alexium holds proprietary patent applications for novel technologies developed to provide flame retardancy for a wide range of materials.

These environmentally friendly flame retardants (FRs) have applications for a number of industries and can be customised.

Further, Alexium has developed products for a range of other applications including phase-change materials (PCMs), water repellents, antimicrobials, and combinations thereof.

Applications under development include but are not limited to textiles, packaging, electronics, and building materials.

Alexium’s chemical treatments are currently marketed under the Alexiflam™, Alexiflam FR™, Alexiflam SYN™, Alexiflam NF™, Alexiflam AD™, Alexiflam PB™, and Alexicool™ brand names.

New Shanghai partner in pillows

Earlier in 2017, Alexium entered the pillow market by partnering with Pegasus Home Fashions.

Last week, a development manager from Alexium visited its newest finishing partner in Shanghai to facilitate a full-scale manufacturing rollout of Alexicool™ onto a wide range of production fabrics to be made into pillows to meet customer orders.

With over 200 manufacturing, distribution and retail customers in 33 countries, this particular partner’s plant in Shanghai serves as an ideal hub for global customers to collaborate with Alexium.

In addition to helping Alexium address a pillow market that sells in excess of 100 million units annually, this partnership yields the opportunity for Alexium.

The company is able to provide innovative technology solutions for other end products through the partner’s network of home textile, mattress, hospitality and apparel industries worldwide.

Spreading the Alexium brand

Even as Alexium is entering a new phase of run-rate profitability, it continues to lay the foundation for aggressive, sustainable growth.

This week, the Alexium team is in Chicago for the leading industry Techtextil North America conference.

It assembles all vertical aspects of the technical textile industry - from research and development through raw materials and production processes, to conversion, further treatment and recycling.

Attendees include companies focused on military, workwear and performance apparel along with those involved in the production of fabric and components for outdoor use.

Coming update

Alexium will provide updates on rising sales of its Alexiflam™ series FR products, including licensing discussions on its Alexiflam NF™ product in the next quarterly update.

Updates on new products and new FR and PCM product sectors will also be featured.

This release is to highlight the rapid, month on month, sales growth in Alexicool™ combination FR and PCM product.
