Front runner increases her lead as tough market conditions continue

By John Collett

Angie Ellis of 80 20 Investments has increased her lead in the second week of the four-week Shares Race.

Capitol Health remains her best pick, with its share price up again this week, and her original $10,000 worth $13,947.

The company, which supplies diagnostic imaging services to the Australian healthcare market, is the best performing tip of all. Its plans to sell some assets and improved earnings outlook continue to support the share price.

Ellis finishes the second week with her portfolio worth $108,100 from $105,280 last week.

The other tipsters have improved the value of their portfolios only slightly or gone backwards in a week of difficult sharemarket conditions.

After a sell-off on Wednesday following wobbles on global sharemarkets, the ASX rebounded on Thursday.

As at the cut-off for the Shares Race, the Thursday close, the S&P/ASX 200 was down slightly at about 5700 points.

Investment Magazine editor Sally Rose retains second spot. Her best performer continues to be Vocus Group whose ownership is in play. Vocus' share price was little lower this week with Rose's original $10,000 in the telco worth $12,590.

The Dartboard holds micro-cap Veris, the third best performer so far.

Previously known as OTOC, the planning, design, survey and spatial solutions company has been buying similar businesses. It has been a rocky ride for shareholders with the share price improving only recently.

The Shares Race is a fantasy shares game. Contestants start with $100,000 across 10 stocks.
