Langone Medical Center to open two clinics in Florida

Just like many of its patients, New York University’s Langone Medical Center is heading to Florida.

The hospital is opening two health clinics in West Palm Beach and Delray Beach to treat the 5,000 New Yorkers who also have residences in Palm Beach County, known as the summer retreat for many of the Big Apple’s rich and famous — including President Trump, whose Mar-a-Lago estate is located there.

It’s the first time NYU is opening patient clinics so far from its New York base.

“This is a big community where our patients live,” said Andrew Rubin, Langone’s vice president for clinical affairs and ambulatory care. Floridians with no connections to New York can also seek care at the NYU offices.

The clinics will provide primary care and cardiology services, and its doctors will have privileges at local hospitals, though patients can go back north to NYU hospital for complex surgeries.

Among the well-heeled NYU patients who have homes in Palm Beach County is longtime trustee and donor Ken Langone, for whom the hospital is named. Another is Marvel Entertainment CEO Isaac Perlmutter, who reportedly donated $50 million to NYU’s cancer center.

Each office will start with a staff of at least four: two doctors and two nurses. NYU Langone Medical Associates will be located at 101 North Clematis St; NYU Cardiology Associates will be located at 16244 South Military Trail in Delray.

The Palm Beach offices will open later this summer/early fall.
