VISAKHAPATNAM: After remaining week for a few days, the southwest monsoon again has become normal over the coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema in the last 24 hours.Weathermen said that the another cyclonic circulation gained momentum over the Northwest Bay of Bengal and the off-shore trough brought rain at many places in coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema on Friday.  

Tuni in East Godavari district and Kavali in Nellore recorded 5 cm of rainfall on Friday, the highest in the state. Chimakurthi in Prakasam district and Nandyal in Kurnool district registered a precipitation of 4 cm, followed by Kandukur and Palasamudram (3 cm). Atchampet and Jangamaheswarapuram in Guntur district, Kukunoor, Prakasam Barrage Orvakal, Dhone also recorded rainfall. 

The upper air cyclonic circulation over the northwest Bay of Bengal and its neighbourhood persists, extending between 3.6 km and 7.6 km above the mean see level and it is tilting southwestwards with height. “The trough on SLC runs from Odisha to South Tamil Nadu across coastal Andhra Pradesh persists. Under its influence, light to moderate rain and thundershowers are very likely to occur at many places in coastal Andhra Pradesh and at a few places in Rayalaseema in the next 24 hours,” said an IMD  report on Friday evening.
