NEW DELHI: In a major breakthrough, Haryana's railway police on Saturday arrested the main accused in Ballabgarh lynching case from Maharashtra's Dhule area. Teenager Junaid Khan was allegedly lynched on an EMU train going from Ghaziabad to Mathura on June 22.
"The main accused in the Junaid Khan murder case has been arrested from Maharashtra's Dhule area," a senior police officer of GRP said in a statement.
He further said that identification of the accused will be revealed after all legal formalities are completed.

"During the initial investigation, the accused has admitted to have stabbed Junaid and his friends on the train," the official said, adding that the accused will be presented before the court on July 9 (tomorrow).
On July 4, the Government Railway Police (GRP) had announced a reward of Rs 2 lakh to anyone providing information about the identity of the accused.
The horrific killing took place, on June 22, when Junaid and his brothers - Haseem and Shakir and cousin Moeen - were returning home to Khandawli village in Palwal after Eid shopping in Delhi. His brothers were also injured by the lynch mob, which also allegedly hurled communal slurs against them.

At least 15-20 people boarded the train at Okhla railway station and asked them to vacate the seats. All four were thrashed and attacked with sharp-edged weapons and later thrown out of the train at the Asaoti railway station in Palwal district.
Even after making five arrests, including a Delhi government employee, the police have not been able to zero in on the accused. Earlier, the GRP had announced a reward of Rs 50,000.
