Three Pudukkottai fishermen were apprehended by the Sri Lankan Navy while they were fishing near Neduntheevu on Sunday night.

The trio of M. Pradeep, M. Prasanth and A. Selvaraj from Jagadappattinam coastal village were taken to Kankesanthurai naval base in Sri Lanka for an inquiry, say police sources.

They were taken into custody by the Sri Lankan Navy about 30 nautical miles from Jagadapattinam where they were fishing on board a mechanized vessel. This is the second incident of arrest of Pudukkottai fishermen within a week. Eight fishermen were arrested a few days ago with their mechanized vessels being seized.
