Messages hailing Pakistan spark tension in Dewas town

INDORE: Tension spread in Tonkkhurd of Dewas district when messages hailing Pakistan were found on the walls of a slaughter house being constructed by the local civic body in the outskirts of the town.
“Unidentified persons wrote message – Pakistan Zindabad – on the walls of the under-construction slaughter house with a brick and left behind a green cloth on Wednesday evening. Soon after the matter came to fore, civic body authorities wiped it clean,” Tonkkhurd police station in-charge Jaygopal Choukse told TOI.
Police have booked unknown persons for spreading enmity among communities under Section 153 A of IPC, he said.
“The perpetrators had drawn a kite, moon and stars with the message. It also carried the name ‘MIM’ indicating at an organization,” Choukse said.
“The word ‘MIM’ and kite (election symbol) indicated at Telangana-based All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen or AIMIM headed by MP Asaduddin Owaisi, he said.
The green cloth found on the spot was not a portion of flag; it has been seized by the police.
The police, who consider it to be an act of a miscreant attempting to disturb harmony, have launched a full-scale investigation into the matter.
“We have zoomed in on some suspects and are getting their phone call details,” Choukse said.
Soon after the matter came to fore, a delegation of residents submitted a memorandum in the name of the President, to Sonkutchh SDM Neeraj Khare and tehsildar KL Tiwari. The residents termed the incident as an attempt to disturb communal harmony and sought immediate action against the accused.
Choukse also called a meeting of local peace committee to ensure that calm prevails and no flare-up is noticed in view of the inflammatory messages.
