Amid floods, diseases haunt Srikakulam

SRIKAKULAM: Amid the heavy rain and flash flood, diarrhoea and other seasonal ailments are spreading fast in Srikakulam district. So far, around 16,000 acute distress diarrhoea (ADD) and 336 malaria cases have been reported from the district. The authorities have formed rapid action teams to conduct health drives at all the PHCS.

As per the official records, as many as 15,855 acute distress diarrhoea cases have been reported so far from across the district this monsoon season. Further, 336 malaria cases and 6 dengue cases have also been reported till Tuesday. However, they claimed that no casualty had been reported so far.   

To check the outbreak of the diseases, rapid action teams have been formed comprising a doctor, a health supervisor, a health visitor and a health assistant each. The teams will render health care services by organising special camps covering areas under the purview of respective PHCs, apart from undertaking awareness drives on the symptoms, preventive and curative measures for seasonal ailments.
