VIZINAGARAM: A businessman was shot dead by unidentified miscreants in Andhra Pradesh's Vizianagaram district on Saturday night.
The man, identified as P Murali Krishnudu (50), ran a supermarket along with few partners in Parvathipuram. He was returning home on Saturday night when he was shot at from a point blank range.
The incident happened near the entrance gate to his house, Parvathipuram inspector B Rambabu said.
Hearing the gunshot, his family members and local residents came out. But, by then, Murali was lying dead in a pool of blood.
He was taken to a hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead.
Police said a bullet hit Murali near his left eye. An empty bullet case was found near the spot.
The cops suspect that Murali, being a businessman, may have been embroiled in some financial disputes.
"There are more angles to the case. We are examining all of them," the inspector said.
The police have formed a special team to probe the case.
Sources said a police team has been sent to Odisha to gather details.
Murali is survived by his wife and a school-going daughter.
