Kollam to host next CPI Party Congress

For the first time, Kollam will host the CPI’s party congress next year while the party state conference will be held in Malappuram.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: For the first time, Kollam will host the CPI’s party congress next year while the party state conference will be held in Malappuram. The CPI state council which met here on Friday decided to hold its 23rd party congress in Kollam by the third week of April 2018. The state conference will be in February last week.

On earlier occasions, the party congress was held in the state in Palakkad, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram. The CPI national council in June had decided to hold the next party congress in Kerala.
The state council meet, presided over by K R Chandramohan, was attended by state secretary Kanam Rajendran, national executive member K E Ismayil, state assistant secretaries K Prakash Babu and Sathyan Mokeri. The meeting condoled the demise of various leaders, including freedom fighter K E Mammen, NCP state chief Uzhavoor Vijayan and scientist Yash Pal.
