Jalpaiguri: 2 arrested with 4 baby alligators

The forest department officials arrested two men Sunday and rescued four baby alligators from their possession. The two alleged smugglers, natives of Patna, were on their way to sell the reptiles when they were nabbed. According to Belacoba Forest Range Officer Sanjay Dutta, the skin of alligators is sold for making ornaments and accessories. Investigations were underway to find out the extent of their network and to arrest the other smugglers, if any, involved in it.
