GRA: Agitated villagers of Badhar village under Sadabad tehsil in UP's Hathras district blocked traffic on NH 93 for three hours and clashed with the police following the death of a cyclist, who was run over by a canter on Thursday afternoon.

The police, which reached the spot to disperse the crowd, met resistance from the villagers who indulged in stone-pelting. The police retaliated by firing a few rounds in the air to deter the crowd from getting aggressive.
One policemen reportedly sustained injuries.
Talking to TOI, SP Hathras, Dhule Susheel said that villagers were angry as there was delay in taking the body out from under the truck. He said a crane was called immediately but it took 40 minutes to arrive and this angered the villagers.

He confirmed that a couple of rounds were fired by the police to deter the aggressive. He said the mob had damaged some vehicles also. He said cases had been registered and action would be taken against those responsible for the violence.
