LUCKNOW: The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court on Friday summoned the directors of Dudhwa and Etawah Safari parks on August 29 to submit details of the availability of the infrastructure and further requirements in the park in order to save the lions.
A bench of justice Vikram Nathan and justice D S Tripathi said, “The directors should appear in court to assist it in providing necessary information so that these Safaris are well managed and animals in the safari are also well taken care of.”
The bench passed the order on a pending PIL moved in 2016, expressing concern over the death of lions in the Safaris.
It said the Special tiger Protection Force had yet not been constituted in the UP, though the Central Environment and Forest Department had given its approval in 2009. The court had earlier directed the central Zoo Authority to inspect the Etawah Lion Safari.
The bench ordered, "The directors will come prepared with the details of the requirement for the park for its maintenance and upkeep and also of the infrastructure and human resource."
