Disproportionate assets case: Odisha vigilance raids houses of forest official and Balangir CSO

The premises of Bhawanipatna north zone DFO, Lalitendu Jena, are being searched simultaneously in Bhawanipatna, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.

BHUBANESWAR: Vigilance sleuths on Saturday conducted searches at the premises of Bhawanipatna divisional forest officer (DFO) and Balangir civil supplies officer (CSO) in connection with a disproportionate asset (DA) case.

The premises of Bhawanipatna north zone DFO, Lalitendu Jena, are being searched simultaneously in Bhawanipatna, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.

While the searches are underway at Jena’s quarter and office in Bhawanipatna, his three-storeyed residential building at Gajapati Nagar and his father-in-law’s house near Saptasati temple in Bhubaneswar are also being searched, along with his parental house at Jhanjirimangala in Cuttack.

Vigilance officials said they have unearthed Jena’s movable and immovable assets worth over Rs 2.30 crore till now. The assets were disproportionate to his known sources of income, they added. 

In another case, vigilance officials on Saturday conducted searches at the office and premises of Balangir CSO Ranjan Seth on allegations of amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The anti-corruption officials conducted simultaneous raids at the CSO’s office in Balangir and his four other premises, including one in Bargarh.
