NEW DELHI: Two men died and another was injured after a truck rammed a cab and a motorcycle in south Delhi’s Mehrauli late on Sunday.
The two victims, Umesh Sharma and Sanjay, worked at a banquet hall in Mehrauli. The accident took place around 11.15pm on Sunday in front of a private hospital. The truck first rammed the cab ferrying two passengers from Saket to Chhatarpur and then hit the bike.
The two bike riders died due to the impact.
“The truck appeared out of nowhere and rammed my cab. It then hit the bike, which was dragged for several metres before the truck came to a stop. The truck driver got off his vehicle and walked towards the bikers to check if they were fine. He then ran into a lane after seeing the bleeding bikers,” said Shameem, the cab driver who received minor injuries.
A passerby soon called the PCR and cops rushed the victims to a nearby hospital. Shameem was treated for his injuries, while the other two were declared brought dead.
The accused, Ram Nandan Yadav, a resident of Supaul, is on the run. A case has been lodged under IPC sections 279 (rash driving), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), 304A (causing death by negligence) at Mehrauli police station.
