Goons molest schoolgirls in UP's Mau, 3 days after Ballia girl murder

VARANASI: Barely three days after the murder of a girl by stalkers in Ballia district, a group of goons forcefully boarded a school bus and molested some girl students in neighbouring Mau district in UP on Thursday. The goons also beat up other students badly when they objected to the misbehaviour. The police lodged an FIR against three named and 12 unidentified persons under sections 147, 148, 354, 506 of the IPC.The police were yet to make any arrest.
According to reports, over a dozen youths, armed with hockey sticks, boarded a school bus of Sant Kabir Inter College, Madhuban at Chawar Katai in Ghosi area of Mau district on Thursday and started teasing the girls. When objected to by the fellow students, they beat them with sticks badly. Hearing their cries, the local residents rushed to the place to save them. Seeing the people, the goons fled the scene.
In protests against the incident, the local residents blocked the road for hours demanding immediate arrest of the attackers. The jam could be cleared after the intervention of police.
Later, on the complaint of school manager Om Prakash Yadav, the police lodged an FIR against Rashid, Tinchu, Seraj and 12 others, all locals. However, according to police, the incident was the result of some personal enmity. Ghoshi SO Suresh Kumar Mishra told TOI over phone on Friday that the matter is being investigated, and a manhunt has been launched to nab the accused.
