Woman, 3 daughters burnt alive in Jaunpur

VARANASI: A woman and her three minor daughters were burnt alive when their mud-house collapsed after catching fire in Daudpur village of Barsathi area in Jaunpur district at wee hours on Saturday.
According to reports, Kusum (28) along with her daughters including Anjali (7), Anshika (5) and Aayushi (2) was sleeping inside the mud house while her husband was sleeping outside. After Friday midnight fire caught in their hut.
Before Kusum or her husband could wake up the flames engulfed the timbers and Goitha (dry cow dung cakes used as fuel), dumped on the roof of mud house.
Kusum’s husband raised an alarm after which villagers gathered there. But, before they could make effort to rescue the woman and her daughters the house collapsed. After exercising hard till wee hours the villagers and Barsathi police succeeded in extinguishing the fire.
Later, when the debris were removed the charred body parts were recovered, said SO Barsathi Prem Shankar Tiwari adding, it were sent for postmortem. He said that the cause of fire could not be known.
