"I have been accused of speaking to a criminal on phone. Questions were raised how a criminal can talk to me from inside the jail. Is there sometime wrong the talk between me and Shahabuddin? Did he say that open the gate of the jail and release me? How can Nitish Kumar talk to Anant Singh, a criminal who was in JD(U)?" defended Lalu.
