6 held in Vijayapura court firing case

Six suspects have been arrested in connection with the shootout of history-sheeter Bagappa Harijan. The shootout had occurred on the premises of the district court here.


The arrested are Ramesh Baburao Hadapad, 44, of Tadakalla village in Aland taluk, Kalaburagi district, a contract killer who was give supari to eliminate Harijan; Bheemashya alias Bheemu Yellappa Harijan, 36, of Alamela town; Namadev Lakshman Dodamani, 50 and Razak Mammulal, who hired the killer; Prabhu Tukaram Jamadar, 48, and Malleshappa Bheemashya Binjageri, 48, who were part of the conspiracy.


Superintendent of Police Kuldeep Kumar Jain told a press conference that two others, including the one who shot at Harijan, are at large. They will be nabbed soon, Jain said.
It is said that the suspects hatched the conspiracy to eliminate Bagappa to avenge the murder of Basappa Harijan, brother of Chandappa Harijan, two years ago. Bheemu is Chandappa’s nephew. It is said Bagappa used to threaten the witnesses in the murder of Basappa.


Six mobile and a Bolero jeep have been recovered from the suspects.
