Railway doctor denies duty; unattended Maharashtra woman’s body left on Gondia station platform for four hours

CHENNAI: The body of a middle-aged woman who was murdered on a running train was left unattended at the platform of Admo Gondia railway station in Maharashtra for hours as the railway doctor refused to do his duty.

The victim identified as Suraj Devi Jain, a native of Gondia was murdered on a running train between Gondia and Amgaon on Thursday night. Her body was found under a seat of the deserted bogie.

The incident was brought to the notice of the in-charge railway doctor Dr Ratnamaiyaa who refused to attend to the woman.

Shivam Agrawal, a passerby who reported the matter via Twitter also revealed that even the Railway Protection Force did not pay any heed to the incident. Below is the video recorded by the passenger: 

The body was taken to a hospital after four hours after NCP leader Nikhil Jain intervened who put pressure on the railway authorities to take immediate action.

The body was sent for post mortem and an investigation is underway.

The people from Jain community have reportedly given a written complaint to the Divisional Railway Manager.
