PATNA: Sleuths of Vigilance Investigation Bureau (VIB) arrested a station house officer (SHO) and a revenue clerk while they were allegedly accepting bribe in Kaimur and Bhojpur districts, respectively, on Friday.
In the first raid, SHO of Kurhani police station Devkant Sinha (35) was arrested while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from one Satyendra Kumar Rai inside his chamber at the police station.

Vigilance DSP Munna Prasad, who led the trap team, said the energy department had lodged an FIR against Satyendra’s brother Gopal Rai in 2015 for illegal use of electricity. “The SHO had sought Rs 50,000 from Satyendra to ensure grant of anticipatory bail to Gopal. Satyendra later lodged a complaint with the VIB,” the DSP said, adding the arrested SHO is a resident of Paliganj in Patna.
In the second trap of the day, the VIB sleuths arrested revenue clerk Ramlayak Singh (48) while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 6,000 from one Aftab Alam at Jagdishpur in Bhojpur district. Vigilance DSP Ajit Kumar Singh said the revenue clerk had sought bribe from Alam for mutation of a plot purchased by him. The arrested clerk is a resident of Garkha in Saran district.
With the two traps on Friday, the VIB sleuths have arrested 55 persons in 52 traps across the state so far this year.
