Prostitution racket under the garb of real estate busted in Vijayawada, four held

VIJAYAWADA: The task force and the law and order police busted a prostitution racket running under the garb of real estate on Thursday night, and arrested four persons, including two male customers from Satyanarayapuram. Four victims, who hail from the city, were also rescued during the raid.

Acting on a tip-off, the police raided a house in Satyanarayanapuram, which is owned by TDP corporator Trimurthi Raju and arrested the kingpin Ravela Annapurna (47), a resident of Gannavaram, and Borra Ramakrishna (35), a native of Parvathipuram village in Chatrai mandal.

According to the police, Annapurna, who was using online dating websites to lure clients, rented the house for running a real estate office. The police also arrested customers Natheti Srinivas Sarma (31), a resident of Krishnalanka, and Yekkala Srinivasa Rao (40) of Bramhanda Reddy Nagar. 

Satyanarayanapuram Inspector M Satyanarayana said, “The accused were involved in four other similar cases at Nunna and Patamata.” When asked about the involvement the TDP corporator, he said, “As per primary investigation, we didn’t find his involvement. It has happened without his knowledge.”

The Satyanarayanapuram police registered a case under Sections 3,4 and 5 of the Immoral Trafficking Act and Section 370 of the IPC against the organisers.
