Nellore realtor, 3 pals held for 'raping' Delhi woman

HYDERABAD: Banjara Hills police on Friday arrested a Nellore-based realtor and three of his friends in connection with an alleged rape of a domestic help from Delhi at a city motel.
The victim from Mahipalpoor in New Delhi came to Hyderabad on August 5 along with her employer's daughter, Payal and her friend Ramu to visit the city.
While the woman checked into Room No 408, Payal and Ramu checked into Room No 207 in a motel at Road Number 10 of Banjara Hills.
At 11 pm on August 15, Payal and Ramu had suggested to the domestic help that she could go out to have an ice cream. "After having an ice cream, she returned to the motel lobby. When she was about to get into the lift, she saw four persons along with a room service boy in the lift. They asked her to get inside but she refused to do so and took the stairs," Banjara Hills inspector K Srinivas said.
After changing dress in her room, she went to Payal's room on the second floor. At 3 am, Payal and her help asked Ramu to go out and get some food. "After Ramu left the room, the two women heard a knock on the door and when they enquired, a man answered from outside saying that he was there for room service. Payal and the victim opened the door and the four men, whom the victim saw in the lift, were there. One of them faked a lighter for pistol and pointed it at the woman and forcibly took her to his room (407) where he allegedly raped her. The other accused stayed in Payal's room and threatened her to keep quiet," the inspector said.
At 6 am, the accused let off the victim and she went to Payal's room. While the victim wanted to lodge a complaint, Payal and Ramu refused to help her and left for Delhi.
The victim lodged a complaint on Thursday night and after a preliminary probe, police arrested the main accused, Vamshi Krishna Reddy, 32, a realtor from Nellore for raping the victim and his associates Ashok, 26, Shabbir, 45, and Mahendra Reddy, 30, for abetting the crime.
The victim was sent for medical examination and subsequently to Bharosa centre for rehabilitation. The accused will be produced before the court on Saturday.
