Policeman arrested in UP's Ballia district for molesting a teenage girl

VARANASI: A police constable was suspended and arrested for allegedly molesting a teenage girl at Gopalpnagar in Reoti police station area in Ballia district on Saturday. He was booked under sections 354, 306 of IPC and 7/8 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The girl’s father could not bear this shock and died.
According to reports, the constable Dharam was posted at the Gopalnagar police outpost under the jurisdiction of Reoti police station.
He allegedly lured the 15-year-old girl and took her to the police outpost on Friday night. The local residents caught them in objectionable position. They took them out of the outpost and also beat the constable badly. After hearing this shocking news the girl’s 60-year-old father collapsed. Taking advantage of the situation the constable fled from the scene, but soon he was arrested.
Reoti station officer KP Singh told TOI over phone that the arrested constable was booked under sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 306 (abetment of suicide) of IPC and 7/8 POCSO Act. The body was sent for postmortem.
Ballia district had also witnessed a brutal murder of a teenage girl recently. The of 17-year-old girl Ragini, resident of Bajaha village in Baansdih Road police station area in Ballia district, was stabbed and her throat was slit by the son of gram pradhan when she was on way to school with her sister on August 8. The girl was stalked by the accused Aditya Tiwari alias Prince and his accomplices. Police booked Prince, his father Kripashankar Tiwari and three others under sections 302, 354, 348 and 345 of IPC. Two of them including the main accused Prince were arrested on the same day, while three others surrendered in the court later.
