Train runs over tiger in UP's Bahraich

A passenger train ran over a tiger near Katarniaghat range in Bahraich, killing it on the spot, on Saturday. This train passes from Dudhwa also and the tragedy took place despite directions about speed limit while crossing through forest reserves.

LUCKNOW: A passenger train ran over a tiger near Katarniaghat range in UP's Bahraich, killing it on the spot. This train passes from Dudhwa also and the tragedy took place despite directions about speed limit while crossing through forest reserves.
According to forest department, the caracass of the tiger, aged about 18 months, was found near Bichia Gate railway track.
Forest officer GP Singh said an FIR had been registered against the train driver, who is yet to be identified.
“The body bears injury marks. One of the legs was also cut off after it was run over by the train,” he said. A panel of three doctors performed the autopsy on Sunday to ascertain the cause of death.
In the past too, several elephants have been run over by trains on this killer track. The forest department has made several requests to Railways for disallowing trains on this track which passes through the dense forests of Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary.
