TenGIG Festival Brings Esports To Chattanooga Oct. 6-8

  • Wednesday, August 23, 2017

TenGIG announced on Wednesday their inaugural esports festival, taking place in Chattanooga Oct. 6-8. Launched in partnership with EPB Fiber Optics of Chattanooga, VaynerMedia and Next Generation Esports, TenGIG will bring thousands of attendees to play and stream the biggest games in esports on EPB’s community-wide fiber network, offering speeds of up to 10 Gbps as a standard offer, the fastest internet in the world.

TenGIG is a new style of gaming festival – combining esports, innovation, music and food - that allows attendees to enjoy events across downtown Chattanooga. EPB is powering every venue with the internet speed that made it PCMag’s “Best ISP for Gaming in the U.S.” for the last two years, so attendees can stream content across their social networks with stability and clarity, said officials.

“In Chattanooga, we have the fastest, most-pervasive internet in the world and a high quality of life," said Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke.  "Guests attending TenGIG will experience not only the best fiber network for gaming, but also a city that's focused on innovation and empowering people to lead the best life possible.  Through the weekend activities in our innovation district and watching collegiate gamers compete, this festival will inspire young Chattanoogans while showcasing tech talent in our city.”

Games take the main stage, with NGE producing a weekend full of competition and prizing with some of esports’ biggest and rising IPs. TenGIG will host a League of Legends Southeastern Collegiate Invitational – bringing in thousands of regional collegiate League of Legends players to compete. Also, TenGIG will host a 24-hour/day PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS LAN open play – streaming 100 feeds simultaneously. The 100-person battle-royale survival game, developed by Bluehole, has become one of the biggest games in the country, clocking millions of downloads since its launch in March.

In another ‘first,’ TenGIG will have four Killer Queen arcade cabinets located throughout the city. The 5v5 arcade strategy game is the most exclusive arcade game in the world – with only 28 cabinets in existence across the globe.

TenGIG is also about celebrating innovation – and with a host of panels and activations curated by VaynerExperience (VaynerMedia’s new live events division), attendees will be able to interact and engage with the titans of the tech and gaming worlds – as panelists discuss breaking into the industry and more.

“TenGIG is our opportunity to showcase Chattanooga as America’s premiere city for gaming and by extension for our nation’s most innovative companies and talent,” said Hodgen Mainda, vice president of Community Development for EPB. “In a place where every home and business has access to the fastest internet speeds with the lowest latency, you have a nearly instantaneous window on the world whether you’re playing a shooter and need to get the drop on an opponent in New York or you’re running a company and want an edge over your competition in Austin.”

“With both top tech talent and innovative ideas flowing through Chattanooga, VaynerMedia is proud to spearhead the innovation track for the TenGIG festival,” said Mickey Cloud, senior vice president and head of VaynerMedia’s Chattanooga office. “Continued innovation and jumping onto emerging consumer platforms, like influencer marketing, voice technology and e-sports, is a focus for our agency.  Part of our mission in Chattanooga is to see how we can impact and help foster the entrepreneurial ecosystem growing in the Innovation District.”

TenGIG will take place Oct. 6-8 with tickets priced at $99 and available now for purchase online at www.tengigfestival.com
