The constituency which has only 2.30 lakh voters witnessed a high turnout of voters (80 per cent) exercising their franchise on August 23.

As general election is expected in 2019, both TDP and YSRC are at full throttle to gain the trust of people of Andhra Pradesh and the result will definitely boost the morale of the winning party.

While opposition leader and YSR party chief YS Jagan has called the bypoll and its result a referendum of Chandrababu Naidu lead TDP government, the ruling party however shows confidence of winning the assembly constituency because of its 'developmental' works.

Both ruling Telugu Desam Party and opposition YSR Congress went all out against each other during the election campaign of the small constituency, which falls under Kurnool district of Rayalseema region of the state, trying hard to win Nandyal.

The political pundits all recall how the entire bypoll campaign turned into a personal battle between the two party chiefs, namely Chandrababu Naidu and YS Jagan.

During the election campaign in Nandyal, Jagan targeted Chandrababu Naidu personally and said Naidu should be shot for not fulfilling his poll promises. Now he is facing an FIR after Election Commission's instruction.

The result of this bypoll is so crucial that during the election campaign, while YS Jagan stayed in the constituency for 13 long days, Telugu Desam Party's national president and state Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu too held massive road shows while over half a dozen ministers of his cabinet also camped in the constituency to ensure party's victory.
