Mainpuri cut off from Etah as Bridge collapses

The Ganga-Jamuni Bridge, running across the National Highway 91 in Mainpuri collapsed this morning due to heavy rains, cutting off several villages from the Etah district. However, no casualties or injuries were reported. According to officials, traffic has been diverted.

AGRA: The Ganga-Jamuni Bridge, running across the National Highway 91 in Mainpuri , collapsed on Monday morning due to heavy rains, cutting off several villages from the Etah district. However, no casualties or injuries were reported. According to officials, traffic has been diverted.

Land acquisition officer of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), KL Verma, who inspected the spot, told TOI that he has blocked the road from both sides to avoid any untoward incident at night.
He said he has informed all senior officials of NHAI and they will come for an inspection on Tuesday.
A team of experts will inspect the spot and decide the alternative arrangement there, he said.
He said that the structure of the bridge was very old and it had collapsed due to heavy rains.
Talking to TOI, SP, Mainpuri, Rajesh S said that police personnel have been deployed there so the people don’t use the bridge any longer. He connectivity between Mainpuri and Etah district had impacted adversely by the bridge collapse.
