New CCRS Pathak hails from Bhojpur
PATNA: Shailesh Kumar Pathak has been appointed the new chief commissioner of railway safety (CCRS). He succeeded Sudarsan Nayak, following his retirement on August 31 this year. Prior to this, Pathak was the commissioner of railway safety (CRS) of the Northern Circle with its headquarters at Lucknow.
Pathak, who hails from Bhojpur district in Bihar and is a product of IIT-Kanpur, belongs to the 1986 batch of the Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE).
He has successfully piloted several important projects of the railways, including that of the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor. He has visited Japan, South Korea, Malaysia and Singapore to study their advanced metro rail services and received several awards for his outstanding services to the Indian Railways over the years.
According to sources in the railways, it is probably for the first time that a person hailing from Bihar has been appointed the CCRS.
