VARANASI: Passengers of Jabalpur-bound
Shaktipunj Express had a narrow escape Thursday morning when seven coaches of the train
derailed near Obra dam in
Sonbhadra district in eastern Uttar Pradesh, about 80 km from here.
No casualty or injury was reported in the accident.
Railway officials said the passengers of the derailed bogeys were shifted to other coaches and the train left for its destination within an hour of the accident.While the exact of cause of derailment was still not known, the authorities ruled out the possibility of sabotage.
“There are no signs of sabotage. The train derailed due to the broken track,“ Mirzapur range IG Prem Prakash said.
A senior railway official said the exact cause of derailment would be known after investigation.Officials said the speed of the train was low which prevented any injuries to passengers.
