KOLKATA: CID officials in Birbhum have arrested two men for allegedly possessing fake currency worth Rs 86,000. The accused were held from Idgaccha More close to Rajnagar on Monday. They have been identified as Nasib Khan (32) and Mursghed Khan (28), both residents of Jamtara in Jharkhand, claimed CID sources. A stolen bike used to transport the fakes was also recovered from the accused.
Sources in CID claimed the notes — all in Rs 2,000 new notes — had security threads on them.
“The security thread is still not that fine. But these are definitely much better than what was coming to the city since last December,” said a senior investigating officer.
