Nuzvid police arrest 28-yr-old in minor rape case

Nuzvid police arrested a 28-year-old man for allegedly raping a minor girl back in 2015 and produced him before the Additional District Magistrate court on Saturday.

VIJAYAWADA: Nuzvid police arrested a 28-year-old man for allegedly raping a minor girl back in 2015 and produced him before the Additional District Magistrate court on Saturday. The accused was remanded to judicial custody for fourteen days. According to Nuzvid police inspector M Ram Kumar, the accused Gandikota Pasava Rao hails from Kolaparru village of Akividu mandal in West Godavari district. Rao cheated many women in the past with different names.

He befriended a minor girl in Nuzvid town introducing himself as Rajesh and promised to marry her. He took the girl to Hyderabad and exploited her financially and physically. “After two weeks, he brought the girl back to Nuzvid and suddenly vanished from her life. The girl later informed her parents about the incident and approached the police,” said  inspector Kumar. 

A case under section 4 of Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and sections 363 (kidnapping) and 376 (minor rape) of IPC have been slapped against the accused. 
Police further said that Rao was already married and has two daughters. Tracing his identity, police enquired about him in Hanuman Junction and took him into custody.
