Weathermen warns heavy rain in coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema districts

VISAKHAPATNAM: With the upper air cyclonic circulation remaining active over the northern Andhra Pradesh, the weathermen have warned of heavy rain in coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema districts in the next 24 hours.

The active south-west monsoon in the state has the weather conditions in the state changed, bringing down the maximum day temperatures at several places.  

In the last 24 hours, West Godavari district witnessed very heavy rain, with Polavaram registering 13 cm of rain, the highest in the state. Isolated places in East Godavari, Vizianagaram, Nellore and Kadapa also received heavy precipitation.

Dowleshwaram in East Godavari district and Vallur in Kadapa district recorded a ran of 8 cm, followed by Merakamudidam, Parvathipuram and Garugubilli of Vizianagaram district,  Duvvur, Kamalapuram and Proddutur in Kadapa district and Nellore (7 cm) on Sunday.
The upper air cyclonic circulation over the west-central and north-west Bay of Bengal and its adjoining coastal areas of south Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh now extends up to 3.1 km above the mean sea level, tilting south-westwards.
