Ballia, September 16
The mortal remains of BSF jawan Bijender Bahadur Singh, who was killed in firing by Pakistan, were on Saturday consigned to flames at his native village.
A pall of gloom descended on Vidya Bhawan Naraypur village after Singh was killed on Friday along the International Border (IB) in Jammu district’s Arnia sector.
UP minister Shrikant Sharma, who was also present during the cremation, said, “The entire state is proud of Singh. Pakistan is being taught a lesson on every front. Our braveheart soldiers have gunned down 368 militants.”
He also announced that a memorial would be built at his native village in memory of the martyr.
MP Ravindra Kushwaha gave a cheque for Rs 5 lakh to the slain soldier’s father and Rs 20 lakh to his wife on behalf of the state government. PTI
