GUNTUR: Assembly Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao inaugurated the 63rd State level school games at Narasaraopet on Wednesday. The School Games Federation of India is conducting the event. Football and fencing for girls and boys in Under 17 category are being held as part of the event.
Speaking on the occasion, he said students should actively take part in sports and extracurricular activities, besides concentrating on studies for their holistic growth. The State government has laid emphasis on creation of necessary infrastructure to promote sports in the State in a big way.
Mini-stadiums will be constructed in rural areas to promote sports.
Coaching in weightlifting and taekwondo is being given at the stadium. A swimming pool of international standards will also come up in Narasaraopet soon, the Speaker said.
