Aspiring travel blogger wins Miss Malaysia Tourism 2017

KUALA LUMPUR: She was an aspiring travel blogger and now she will travel the world, as Miss Malaysia Tourism 2017.
Melissa Ng was the gorgeous beauty queen who was crowned Miss Malaysia Tourism 2017 and won the coveted grand crown worth RM1.5 million.
The crown was specially designed by luxury jeweller, ROKU Jewelry Luxury.
Ng will go on to represent Malaysia at the 20th Miss Tourism International World Finals which Malaysia will be hosting.
Tan Sri Danny Ooi, president and franchise owner of Miss Malaysia Tourism said since 1995 he has seen 103 beauty queens take the title and go on to promote Malaysia internationally.
"I don't see this event as just a pageant, but as a tourism platform. We promote girls who are not just beautiful but also talented in many ways," he said in his opening speech at the event held at Berjaya Times Square on Saturday night.
Lee Jia Ling, 19 was crowned as Miss Malaysia Tourism Queen of the Year 2017/2018 while Crystal Tung, 22, was crowned as Miss Malaysia Tourism Metropolitan 2017/2018.
The Miss Malaysia Tourism 2017 pageant is unique as it has three Miss Malaysia Tourism titles in one event that saw finalist from various states in Malaysia vie for the grand title.
The top three winners who stole the limelight of the night and sashayed with the titles Miss Malaysia Tourism 2017/2018, Miss Malaysia Tourism Queen of the Year 2017/2018 and Miss Malaysia Tourism Metropolitan 2017/2018 also were given each a full scholarship from Asia Metropolitan University worth RM300,000 as well as cash prizes and sponsored gifts valued at more than RM200,000.
Four charity homes namely Malaysia Association of the Blind, Ti-Ratana Welfare Society, OKB OKU Persatuan Orang Kota Bharu and Persatuan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Istimewa Insan received proceeds of the charity dinner that night of RM5,000 each.
