KUWAIT, Sept 27 (KUNA) -- Visiting Turkish Minister of Family and Social Policies Fatma Betul has applauded the State of Kuwait and His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's global humanitarian role.
Kuwait has been pioneering in humanitarian, relief and charitable actions, Minister Betul told KUNA on the sidelines of her visit to the headquarters of the Kuwait Society for Ideal Family.
She went on to say that Kuwait's generosity is felt by needy people all over the world.
Betul cited as examples Kuwait's support to millions of Syrians who are displaced by the ongoing civil conflict in their country as well as the aid it provided to Turkey following the 2012 earthquake.
She expressed her admiration of the effective role played by Kuwaiti women in economic and development sectors.
In this regard, the minister referred to that the ambitious training program for Kuwaiti female engineers to give impetus to their contributions to the state's mega development projects.
The training program which kicks off Thursday is the outcome of cooperation between the Kuwait University's College of Engineering and Petroleum and the Lifelong Learning Center at Istanbul's Bogazici University, and Limak Construction Kuwait.
It is part of Limak's projects and initiatives in the region, seeking to provide learning, training and employment opportunities for women in fields of building, engineering, architecture and managing projects.
For her part, Chairperson of the Kuwait Society for Ideal Family Sheikha Fariha Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah said Kuwait's aid to people suffering from natural or man-made disasters stems from deep belief in the importance of humanitarian and relief action and penchant of altruism.
She called for redoubling efforts to ease the suffering of people in crises-hit areas across the globe, especially in the Middle East.
Sheikha Fariha also shed light on the activities and membership requirements for Kuwait Ideal Family Society.
She announced that Turkey would join to its annual award of Ideal Mothers of in the 2018 edition.
Moreover, Minister Betul and Kuwait's Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind Al-Sabeeh signed Wednesday a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for child and elderly care. (Pick up previous) mrf.ibi
