KOLLAM: A seven-year-old girl who went missing from Kulathupuzha in Kollam on Wednesday was found dead near a rubber shed at RP Colony in the same locality here on Thursday. Police has taken a relative of the girl into custody. According to Kulathupuzha Sub-Inspector M G Vinod, more details would be available only after a medical examination of the body.

It was on Wednesday evening that the girl went missing on her way to attend tuition class along with the relative.

Upon the missing complaint filed by the girl’s mother with the Yeroor Police Station, police launched a search and later took the relative into custody.

“While questioning the relative, he disclosed the spot where he left the girl. But when we arrived there, a rubber shed at RP Colony, we found the girl dead. We are not ruling out any possibilities including that of sexual assault,” said an officer with Kulathupuzha Police Station.
