10 lakh houses for poor in next two years: Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu

KAKINADA: Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu on Monday said that Rs 15,000 crore will be allotted for the construction of 10 lakh houses for the poor in the next two years.He, along with Deputy Chief Minister Nimmakayala Chinarajappa and Legislative Council chairman Reddy Subrahmanyam, participated in the concluding ceremony of Swachhata Hi Seva programme here.

On the occasion, Chandranna Bima policies were distributed to beneficiaries, mass house-warming ceremonies for NTR Housing Scheme beneficiaries were held and a Rs 25-lakh worth park was inaugurated at Peddapuram.Addressing a meeting near the municipal office, Yanamala said there was divinity in purity and Mahatma Gandhi believed that development is possible only with clean villages and towns.

He said one lakh housing scheme beneficiaries were performing mass house-warming ceremonies across the State on Monday on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti and 12,188 beneficiaries participated in this mega mass event in the district.

Deputy Chief Minister N Chinarajappa said over 80 per cent of people in Andhra Pradesh were content with the TDP’s rule and their welfare programmes.He said expansion of roads was leading to development of the State and irrigation projects were making Andhra Pradesh an evergreen State.

District Collector Kartikeya Mishra said the district stood 471st among 600 districts in the country three months ago, but after the effective implementation and collective efforts of the public and government officials, it has attained the 101st position in Swachh Bharat Mission.

Mishra also informed that 767 villages in this district were declared as open defecation free (ODF) villages, and if they construct 76,000 more toilets, then the entire East Godavari district will become complete ODF district.

Kaushal Godavari logo, website launched

On this occasion, Ministers Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and Chinarajappa launched Kaushal Godavari logo and website, which is aimed at giving life skills training to one lakh youth in the district in different fields under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal vikas Yojana.Collector Mishra explained about Kaushal Godavari programme to the ministers.Later, the ministers appreciated the 450 young men and women who have been selected for jobs in Foxconn, TVSGMR, Aurobindo and ITC.
