BJP workers clash over trivial issue in Hardoi

LUCKNOW: In open show of power, scores of BJP workers who had collected to participate in Swachhata Marathon in Shahabad area of Hardoi clashed with each other on Monday.
According to police BJP members Gopal Tripathi and Pawan Rastogi had gone along with their supporters to participate in the rally that was organised by local BJP MLA Rajni Tiwari.
The marathon was flagged off from PWD guest house. Triapthi and Rastogi were leading their groups.
Near Cinema crossing a tiff occured between the two. According to witnesses Rastogi drifted away from the original plan which was to proceed towards Shahabad tehsil office instead of moving towards Cinema crossing.
The confrontation turned ugly when the two started arguing openly and their supporters started the scuffle.
Some supporters brandished guns and that is when senior workers intervened and separated the warring sides.
Shahabad circle officer said that cross FIRs were lodged against both the camps and charges amounting to rioting, unlawful assembly, violence, criminal intimidation had been pressed.
Police were trying to identify the firearms license holders in the group.
