ACB discovers assets worth Rs 50 crore held by ICDS officer in Andhra Pradesh

Based on a complaint of corruption, ACB officials conducted raids on Narayana Reddy's properties and unearthed assets including houses, house sites and gold ornaments.

ANANTAPUR: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials raided the properties of Integrated Child Development (ICDS) senior assistant Narayana Reddy in Anantapur, Penukonda and Nadimi Doddi in Narpala mandal on Wednesday and unearthed assets with a market value of Rs 50 crore that are alleged to be disproportionate to the known sources of income of the officer.

Based on a complaint of corruption, ACB officials conducted raids on Narayana Reddy's properties and unearthed assets including houses, house sites and gold ornaments.

DSP Jayarama Raju said eight teams are conducting simultaneous raids on Narayana Reddy’s house in Kovur Nagar in Anantapur, his office, his properties in Penukonda and Nadimidhode village of Narpala mandal and also in the houses of his relatives and friends.

Officials found documents related to seven buildings, more than 10 house sites and agriculture lands located in Anantapur, Dharmavaram, Penukonda, Narpala, Damalcheruvu of Pakala mandal in Chittoor district.

The gold ornaments found at the officer’s house and his mother’s residence were said to weigh around 1.5 kg.

Searches are still underway and valuation of the assets is being done.

Meanwhile, Narayana Reddy pleaded innocence and said he has documentary proof of legitimate ownership of every asset. He said he is having debts worth Rs 1.9 crore.
