Friends of the Earth Malta is introducing a BeeAware project to Gozo, which it said, intends to give people the opportunity to get involved in beekeeping and to train qualified volunteers to volunteer with Friends of the Earth Malta.

An introductory course will be starting at the end of October, which is designed to give a general understanding on the role of bees as a vital part of the environment and what someone needs to know if they are thinking about keeping bees such as the apiary setup, equipment required etc.

FoE Malta said that the course will take place at the Gozo NGO’s Centre in Xewkija, with some theoretical sessions taking on site at selected apiaries.

The course starts with workshops taking place on Saturdays until the end of November.
