Madhubani paintings adorn Madhubani station
PATNA: At least 7,000 sqft area at Madhubani station of the Samastipur division under the East Central Railway (ECR) has been adorned with world-famous Madhubani paintings.
According to Samastipur DRM R K Jain, 130 and odd local artists worked hard to turn the railways’ initiative, Madhubani station ke rang, Mithila painting ke sang’, into a reality.
”The painting work started on October 2 when the artists from Madhubani and adjoining areas joined the railways’ campaign to beautify the station walls,” Jain said and added the mission completed on Saturday.

The artists did not take any remuneration from the railways which, however, provided them colours and brushes besides meals. These artists worked on a variety of themes, including the Ramayan, the Mahabharata, Sita bidai, maakhan chor, village haat and Chhath festival.
Senior railway officials said there was also a proposal to adorn the Darbhanga station premises with paintings depicting the history of Darbhanga.
