Man's death in road accident sparks violence in Kanpur Dehat

Kanpur: Tension gripped Rajpur area of Kanpur Dehat on Monday after a man was killed in road mishap, sparking violent protest by villagers.
The incident occurred in the morning when one, Lotan Singh, was going to answer natures call.
He was allegedly run over by a speeding truck near Kharka village under the Rajpur police station area, police said.
Agitated over the incident, the villagers placed the body on a road and indulged in heavy brick-batting.Several vehicles were damaged in the violence. The protesters also set a truck on fire.
Senior police officials along with heavy police force and a fire tender rushed to the site, police said, adding the situation has been pacified.
The traffic movement was affected for about four hours due to the violence in the area.
