Bank director shot dead in Lakhisarai

MUNGER: Director of Munger-Jamui Central Co-operative Bank Ramakant Yadav (42), who was known for his proximity with RJD chief Lalu Prasad, was killed on Wednesday night in Lakhisarai.
Police sources said Ramakant, a resident of Khagaur village under Town police station area in Lakhisarai district was gunned down when he was on his way home on a bike from Lakhisarai.
He was surrounded by some armed criminals near Balika Vidyapeeth at around 7.30 pm.
Ramakant, initially was engaged in an scuffle with the assailants, but soon they overpowered him and pumped at least three bullets in his body from a very close range. He succumbed to his injuries on the spot, said police.
As the news of Ramakant’s murder spread, his family members and well wishers rushed to the spot. Angry villagers even blocked the main road near Vidyapeeth Chowk. Police had a tough time in taking custody of the body s due to resistance of family members.
Lakhisarai SP Arvind Thakur said some old enmity was behind the gruesome murder. “Police have identified all the members of the assailant group. They have been identified as Jitendra Yadav, Rakesh Yadav, Amit Yadav and Ram Bilas Yadav,” said the SP adding police have already arrested Ram Bilas and sent him to jai. “Other accused will also be arrested soon and we will request for speedy trial of the case,” the SP added.
