Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao announced at a public meeting in Suryapet on Thursday that two new medical colleges will be established in Nalgonda and Suryapet.
The government will allocate the required funds for the colleges in the 2018-19 budget.
Mr Rao said that with the Centrally-funded All India Institute of Medical Sciences coming up in Yadadri district, the erstwhile Nalgonda district will have three medical colleges.

He took the opportunity to belittle the previous Congress government by alleging that it had manipulated the site selected for the construction of the Nagar-junasagar project to benefit Andhra.
“The original name of Nagarjunasagar project was Nandikonda project. It was to be constructed at Yeleswa-ram. But the site was changed to benefit And-hra at the cost of Telan-gana. Even the project name was changed,” Mr Rao said.
He alleged that the Congress government in undivided AP had discriminated against Telangana.
“The Congress government had agreed to bear the expenses of maintenance and power charges to supply irrigation water through right canal which falls under the Andhra region but imposed a burden on us to supply water through the left canal which falls under the Telangana region. Is this not discrimination,” Mr Rao asked.
He accused Telangana Congress leaders of being hypocrites. “TPCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy now raises hue and cry over land acquisition for projects and compensation. He remained silent when the Congress government acquired thousands of acres in Kham-mam and Nalgonda districts for the Pulichin-tala project, which benefits Andhra, and paid a paltry compensation to farmers. We are now giving compensation as per market rates but still he is trying to obstruct our projects,” Mr Rao said.
The CM vowed to complete the Kaleshwaram project, which would provide a permanent solution to drought in the erstwhile Nalgonda district and provide irrigation water to farmers for two crops on four lakh acres.
He said Nalgonda will be completely transformed once the 4,000 MW ultra power plant in Damacherla commences operations in the next two years.
