Gooty-Dharmavaram rly  line restored for traffic

Gooty-Dharmavaram railway line which was damaged at places due to incessant rains, was restored and normal train operations were resumed at 2 am on Friday

VIJAYAWADA: Gooty-Dharmavaram railway line which was damaged at places due to incessant rains, was restored and normal train operations were resumed at 2 am on Friday, a South Central Railway press release said.With the damage to tracks in the section on October 12, Bengaluru-bound trains were diverted via Renigunta and Tirupati.

Since Thursday morning, the intensity of rain kept increasing, making the operation of the train services difficult. At about 9:30 am, it was decided to stop operation of trains on the track. The track for a distance of about 25 to 30 metres became unsafe due to heavy rains. As Gooty-Dharmavaram section was one of the busiest corridors in the zone,  restoration works were taken up as soon as the water level began receding at about 3 pm on Thursday by diverting the water flow upstream.
